For those of you who have tried LipoDissolve or who are considering trying LipoDissolve, please read this little piece of information below:

"ASPS & ASAPS Respond to Fig LipoDissolve Bankruptcy Responding to Fig LipoDissolve's closing 17 of its 18 centers due to bankruptcy, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) issued a press release urging patients interested in the treatment to visit a board- certified plastic surgeon. On its Web site, Fig created a special information link for patients from affected states, including Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, and Texas. Among the posts was this declaration: "We are sorry to report that, due to economic conditions beyond our control, Fig ceased operations on December 7, 2007...The company is currently consulting with counsel and will likely seek legal relief under the bankruptcy code to ensure it preserves all options including the ability to reorganize and continue operations." Neither association endorses the LipoDissolve procedure. Current Fig patients are urged to call either association in order to find a board certified plastic surgeon in their area who may be able to provide safe alternatives for body contouring. The associations' joint press release also stresses that if a patients is in pain, experiencing swelling or bleeding, or requires immediate attention, they should contact their nearest hospital emergency room. Both the ASPS and ASAPS reiterated that any procedure "involving injecting pharmaceutical or other agents into the body are medical procedures and need to be conducted in an appropriate medical setting by a physician." "The proliferation of advertising of such treatments and the abrupt closing of Fig LipoDissolve Centers nationwide has raised many questions from both patients considering treatment, and those who have already been injected with the unproven medical treatments touted to reduce localized fat," said Alan Gold, MD, president-elect of ASAPS. Injection lipolysis, LipoDissolve and other fat-reducing injections have not yet gone through FDA-sanctioned trials."
